Message from Maui's Charity Walk Chair Chris Rabang
Since its inception in 1978, the Visitor Industry Charity Walk continues to be one of the largest single-day fundraisers in Hawaii, benefiting more than 100 non-profit agencies here in Maui County.
I am honored to represent the islands of Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lanaʻi as the 2021 Charity Walk Chairperson. Together as a community, we have an opportunity make a difference by raising funds to support the extraordinary efforts of our non-profit organizations and giving back to some very well deserving charitable causes.
Under the leadership of our 2019 Charity Walk Chair, Tets Yamazaki, Maui County raised over $1.3M, which supported 100 non-profit organizations. We truly believe that through the collaborative efforts of each of our organizations’ associates, we can continue the success of this amazing event. Through our fund raising efforts, we are able to positively impact the lives of our local residents, with funds that directly benefit worthy organizations in our community who work to provide essential services like meals and shelter, programming for our keiki, support for our kupuna, and so much more.
With a common goal of building a better, healthier Maui County for all of us, I challenge you to start planning early. Let’s not only redo our tried and true initiatives but explore new ways to continue to grow our efforts year after year surrounding Charity Walk. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes an impact.
A sincere mahalo nui loa in advance for your efforts in making Charity Walk 2021 a success. We truly appreciate all that you do for our community I and look forward to seeing you at this year’s event Pupukahi e holomua – we are all in this together!
